Now that you’ve organized all your fall semester images for final reviews, it’s a perfect time to show off your best shots in PDNedu‘s eleventh annual student photo contest. We’ve got an incredible prize package for winning entries in our seven contest categories and a great line up of judges reviewing the work.

Students can submit a single photo or a series of up to six images per entry, with no limit to the number of entries submitted; however, all submissions must be made by students currently enrolled in college or high school. Online entries only.

All submissions received by Friday, December 21 cost just $12 an entry. If you’re an educator looking to submit on behalf of your class, e-mail info@pdncontests.com for special group‐rate deals.

The selection of gear for grand-prize winners includes a Nikon digital camera, a B&H gift card and Canson Discovery Pack from our generous sponsors. All winners and honorable mentions will also receive a one-year subscription to PDN®.

Another coveted prize for Grand-Prize winners is a portfolio consultation with a PDN editor, one of our contest judges or with Dennis Keeley, chair of Photography and Imaging at Art Center College of Design for the Pre-college category winner.

Additionally, the images of Grand-Prize winners and selected honorable mentions will be featured in PDNedu‘s spring 2014 print issue, in the digital edition and on the PDNedu contest Web site. The work of select People’s Choice winners will also be featured on our PDNedu Contest Gallery.

FASHION/PORTRAITURE: From glamour to grunge, show us some style; self-portraits welcome.

DOCUMENTARY/PHOTOJOURNALISM: Budding reporters, hit the beat. Both the front lines and the back rooms count, with plenty of room for the in-between. Show us the issues, people and events in your periphery.

STILL LIFE: Evoke the aroma in a steaming cup of joe or send us the best from your studio lighting setups—if it’s stationary, it counts.

TRAVEL/LANDSCAPE: From your summer fling in Paris to your hiking trip to Machu Picchu, or simply hanging out in the hood or your favorite day at the beach—we want to see where you’ve been.

FINE ART/PERSONAL WORK: Your chance to get creative and conceptual—the offbeat, unique and beautiful work that doesn’t fit in the above categories.

PRECOLLEGE—ANY SUBJECT: If you’re a high school student and a budding shutterbug, show us your shots from any of the above categories and prove that you’ve got what it takes. Don’t worry, you’ll be judged against your peers.

MULTIMEDIA/VIDEO: Budding directors, get moving and submit your best clips—the sky’s the limit—up to 20 minutes in length or 100 MB file size.
