Call for Entries: Syngenta Photography Award—$65k in Prizes

Professional, amateur and student photographers are invited to enter the third edition of the Syngenta Photography Award which includes a $15,000 prize in the Professional Commission category (open to professional photographers only) and a $5,000 prize for the Open Competition, which is open to all photographers who are 18 years or older. The deadline for entries is August 22, 2016.

For the Professional Commission, professional photographers are invited to submit a series of five to 10 compelling images relating to the theme of Grow-Conserve, which, according to the competition, relates to the growing population and demand for resources like food and energy, and the protection of our planet. Entries should be accompanied by a creative project proposal of a maximum of 500 words. The proposal should include a description of the project as well as a budget that would require the grant of $25,000.

One to three “thought-provoking and captivating” images are required for an entry in the Open Competition. These images should explore the same theme, Grow-Conserve.

Second- and third-place winners will also receive monetary prizes. For the Professional Commission, photographers will receive $10,000 and $5,000 for second and third, respectively, and the Open Competition second- and third-place winners will receive $3,000 and $2,000, respectively.

An exhibition of photographs submitted for the award alongside the winning images will be open form March 2017 in various international venues.

Both competitions are free to enter and winners will be selected by a judging panel chaired by photography curator and author William A. Ewing.
