Sinziana Velicescu’s “still. life.”

Posted by on August 3, 2017 | Photographer Interviews

When we last posted the work of Sinziana Velicescu, she was photographing playful images of solitary trees in urban settings. She has also produced a series on the American West, through which she “explores traces of the American Dream.” The palette, composition and themes in “still. life.” are unmistakably hers, with color blocking of coral, baby blue, earth tones and red, strong use of negative space and the complete absence of human presence.

If you’re in New York in the next month, be sure to check out The Fence, which is up until September 10 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Velicescu’s series “On the Periphery”—which was published in our sister magazine, Emerging Photographer—is on display, alongside the work of a number of talented rising and established photographers.
