The Portrait & Fashion Issue Has Launched!

Posted by on September 15, 2017 | Media, Photographer Interviews, Student Photography

Our new issue for Fall 2017 is all about portrait and fashion photography, spanning from the golden era of mid-century Harper’s Bazaar photography to contemporary photographers creating evocative work today. We also report on undergraduate and graduate programs with rigorous career-prepping, how to pitch photo editors of indie publications, and how to create studio imagery with bold color and clean lighting.

You can read the issue for free at digitalmag.pdnedu.com. Prints copies are available at 1,400 photo programs across the country.

Inside, you’ll see the fashion work of recent graduate Lucy Leach, as well as editorial portrait and fashion from our One to Watch pick, Nathanael Turner. In It’s a Living, Brian Finke shares his approach for the past two decades: focus on personal work and assignment work will follow. You’ll also learn techniques for colorful, graphic still lifes from Molly Cranna and bold beauty lighting from Nikon Ambassador Matthew Jordan Smith. And, we have photo directors and editors chime in from The California Sunday Magazine, SUITED, Cherry Bombe, Tidal, Puss Puss and more on how to pitch your work.

We’ve also introduced a new Singles gallery, featuring work from student and rising photographers. Send us work for consideration: pdnedu@pdnonline.com.
