Dumbo is currently one of the most expensive neighborhoods to live and work in Brooklyn. It’s also a place teeming with art installations, galleries, and opportunities to network.

Most artists couldn’t even dream of affording a studio in the neighborhood. The good news is that the Sharpe-Walentas studio program is willing to give 17 artists a free one for a year.

The program is open to professional visual artists over the age of 21 with  legal US permanent resident status, US citizenship, or a visa that allows them to live and work in the United States.

All that you need to apply is 5 clear images of your recent work, along with a statement about why you need a studio space.

Unfortunately, the program does not offer any stipends or housing — but if you can supplement your income, it’s a great opportunity.

For more information, and to apply, click here. The application deadline is this upcoming Wednesday, February 15.
